MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball Recommendations for 8/19/2019

Hitting could reign supreme considering the group of pitchers set to take the mound across baseball Monday. With that being said, there are still a few pitchers in favorable spots to provide value. Here are some of the top players to consider when working your way through the options. STARTING PITCHERS

MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball Recommendations for 8/19/19

Wade Miley vs. Detroit Tigers
Stadium – Minute Maid Park
FanDuel = $9,000
DraftKings = $11,200

This is not the kind of price you like to see for Miley considering his 19.9 percent strikeout rate. However, he’s hard to pass up in cash contests considering this matchup. The Tigers have scored the fewest runs in baseball and if Miley is going to ever have a start where he generates more strikeouts than normal, this is it considering the Tigers have also struck out the third-most times. Really, it’s just a matter of if you can fit enough quality hitters into your lineup working around Miley’s price tag.

Kyle Gibson vs. Chicago White Sox
Stadium – Target Field
FanDuel = $7,400
DraftKings = $10,100

Gibson is a bit cheaper on DraftKings, but his price on FanDuel really makes him appealing. The White Sox have a few imposing bats, but they have still scored the third-fewest runs. In two previous meetings with them this season, Gibson has allowed two runs and recorded 18 strikeouts across 13 innings. Look for him to have plenty of success this time around, as well.

CATCHER

MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball Recommendations for 8/19/19

Kurt Suzuki vs. Trevor Williams, Pittsburgh Pirates
Stadium – PNC Park
FanDuel = $2,600
DraftKings = $4,200

The Nationals have scored at least 14 runs in three of their last four games, so to say they are firing on all cylinders right now would be an understatement. They have another excellent opportunity to be productive against Williams, who has posted a 7.28 ERA and a 1.68 WHIP across his last nine starts. If you’re looking to get some cheap exposure to them, Suzuki should be on your radar. He’s 12-for-35 (.343) with two home runs and two doubles over his last eight games.

FIRST BASE

MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball Recommendations for 8/19/19

Christian Walker vs. Chi Chi Gonzalez, Colorado Rockies
Stadium – Chase Field
FanDuel = $3,400
DraftKings = $4,100

While it would be even better if this game was being played at Coors Field, the Diamondbacks are still in a great spot against Gonzalez and his 6.91 FIP. He has a 1.52 WHIP for his career, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see his struggles continue in this contest. Even though he doesn’t have the platoon advantage here, Walker actually has slightly better numbers versus right-handed pitchers (.348 wOBA) than he does lefties (.341 wOBA).

Others to consider: Trey Mancini and Yuli Gurriel

SECOND BASE

MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball Recommendations for 8/19/19

Josh Rojas vs. Chi Chi Gonzalez, Colorado Rockies
Stadium – Chase Field
FanDuel = $2,500
DraftKings = $3,100

Rojas provided excellent production at Triple-A for the Astros earlier this season, recording a .276 ISO and a .410 wOBA. He also chipped in 19 steals, so he can provide value in multiple areas. He’s quickly worked his way up to the majors now that he’s a member of the Diamondbacks, making him a cheaper option to at least consider in tournament play. Of note, he is only eligible at second base on FanDuel since he is listed as an outfielder on DraftKings.

Others to consider: Jose Altuve and Brian Dozier

THIRD BASE

MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball Recommendations for 8/19/19

Mike Moustakas vs. Dakota Hudson, St. Louis Cardinals
Stadium – Busch Stadium
FanDuel = $3,600
DraftKings = $4,000

Moustakas certainly enjoyed his weekend against the Nationals, racking up six hits and three home runs. He’s been everything the Brewers could have hoped for in his first full season with the team, recording a .265 ISO and a .355 wOBA. Hudson has allowed a .387 wOBA versus left-handed hitters, leaving Moustakas with significant upside. His price isn’t bad on FanDuel, but he’s especially appealing based on his price on DraftKings.

Others to consider: Alex Bregman and Anthony Rendon

SHORTSTOP

MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball Recommendations for 8/19/19

Carlos Correa vs. Edwin Jackson, Houston Astros
Stadium – Minute Maid Park
FanDuel = $4,000
DraftKings = $5,000

I’m not shying away from attacking Jackson just because he’s had two good starts since joining the Tigers. Don’t forget, they came against two bad teams in the Royals and Mariners. Facing the Astros is an entirely different animal. Correa checks into this matchup with a career-high .279 ISO, which is noteworthy since Jackson has allowed 3.4 HR/9.

Others to consider: Jonathan Villar and David Fletcher

OUTFIELD

MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball Recommendations for 8/19/19

Juan Soto vs. Trevor Williams, Pittsburgh Pirates
Stadium – PNC Park
FanDuel = $4,000
DraftKings = $5,200

Soto has certainly proven that his stellar rookie campaign was no fluke. Not only is his wOBA even higher at .394, but he’s provided more production on the base paths with 12 stolen bases. Oh yeah, and he’s slugging .553. Left-handed hitters have a .384 wOBA versus Williams, making Soto a hitter to build your entry around.

Adam Eaton vs. Trevor Williams, Pittsburgh Pirates
Stadium – PNC Park
FanDuel = $3,500
DraftKings = $4,600

Eaton doesn’t have nearly the upside that Soto does, but with how much Williams has struggled against lefties, he is also someone to target. It helps that he’s swinging a hot bat after going 17-for-40 (.425) with three home runs and three doubles over his last 10 games.

Josh Reddick vs. Edwin Jackson, Detroit Tigers
Stadium – Minute Maid Park
FanDuel = $2,400
DraftKings = $3,200

If you’re looking for a really cheap hitter to include in an Astros stack, rolling with Reddick might not be a crazy idea. Yes, he’s mired in a 15-for-87 (.172) slump over his last 25 games. Still, he can be a tough out with his 11.3 percent strikeout rate. With how poorly Jackson has pitched this season, this is as good of a matchup as any for Reddick to get back on track.

Others to consider: Aristides Aquino and Yordan Alvarez
