POINT GUARDS

NBA Daily Fantasy Basketball Lineup Picks

Dennis Schroder, ATL vs. NY
FanDuel = $7,400
DraftKings = $6,600

There are only five players in the NBA averaging at least 19 points and seven assists per game. They are James Harden, Russell Westbrook, LeBron James, John Wall and Schroder. That’s some pretty elite company that Schroder is running with. The Hawks have very little talent on their roster, leaving Schroder to produce the 14th best usage rate (29.4%) in the NBA. The Knicks really struggle to defend opposing point guards, so Schroder could be in line for a huge performance Friday.

Antonio Blakeney, CHI at GS
FanDuel = $3,000
DraftKings = $3,000

As I’ve noted many times, you have to take risks if you want to win in tournament play. The Bulls continue to struggle to score, so they have turned to Blakeney to provide some scoring punch off the bench of late. Over the last five games, he is averaging 10.2 points and 1.0 three-pointer in 20 minutes per contest. The Warriors play at the fifth-fastest pace (104.4) in the NBA and could make this one a laugher earlier, leading to a lot of garbage time. He will only cost you the minimum on both sites, so he could provide value.

SHOOTING GUARDS

NBA Daily Fantasy Basketball Lineup Picks

Tim Hardaway Jr., NY at ATL
FanDuel = $6,600
DraftKings = $6,600

Hardaway has not disappointed in what was expected to be his breakout campaign as he is averaging career-highs pretty much across the board. The Knicks are off to a surprising 10-7 start and a lot of that is because Hardaway and his 18.4 points per game have provided a great compliment to superstar Kristaps Porzingis. The Hawks are not a good defensive team as they are tied for the sixth-most points allowed per game (108.2) this season. This has the potential to be another great scoring night for Hardaway.

Dion Waiters, MIA at MIN
FanDuel = $5,500
DraftKings = $5,600

The Heat don’t have a ton of offensive firepower as they have scored the sixth-fewest points per game (100.5) in the league. Waiters has been one of their few bright spots, averaging 15.9 points per game. His 26.3% usage rate ranks 36th in the NBA, ahead of players including Paul George, C.J. McCollum, and Kevin Love. The Timberwolves have not played well defensively and have several excellent options offensively that the Heat will need to keep pace with, so Waiters could provide value at this price.

SMALL FORWARDS

NBA Daily Fantasy Basketball Lineup Picks

LeBron James, CLE vs. CHA
FanDuel = $11,900
DraftKings = $11,200

James continues to get plenty of opportunities to produce as he is tied for the second-most minutes (37.7) per game this season. This has the potential to be an up-tempo contest as both the Cavaliers and the Hornets are in the top-12 in the NBA in terms of pace of play. It’s going to cost a pretty penny to get him into your entry, but his workload and rare skillset should make him worth it.

Courtney Lee, NY at ATL
FanDuel = $5,200
DraftKings = $4,600

Lee continues to see significant playing time as he is averaging 32 minutes per game in his second consecutive season with the Knicks. Not known as a potent offensive weapon, he is averaging 11.2 points per game, which is the fourth best on the team. He is also averaging career-highs in rebounds (4.1), assists (3.1), steals (1.5), and three-pointers (1.6) per game. With the Hawks defensive struggles already outlined earlier, Lee has the potential to outproduce his pricepoint Friday.

POWER FORWARDS

NBA Daily Fantasy Basketball Lineup Picks

Anthony Davis, NO at PHO
FanDuel = $11,300
DraftKings = $10,700

Davis and DeMarcus Cousins have thrived together in New Orleans as they are the only teammates in the league to average at least 25 points and 11 rebounds per game this season. Despite playing a bigger lineup than most teams, the Pelicans actually play at the seventh-fastest pace (102.3) in the NBA. The only concern you should really ever have with playing Davis in DFS is his injury history as you can’t afford to lose a player early in a game at this price. With how horrible the Suns are on defense, get Davis in your lineup and just cross your fingers that he stays healthy.

Bobby Portis, CHI at GS
FanDuel = $4,200
DraftKings = $5,200

Portis came back from suspension and was hot to start the season, averaging 19.3 points, 10.0 rebounds and 2.0 three-pointers over his first three games. He has cooled off considerably since, averaging 9.8 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 0.8 three-pointers in his last five games. Even with his recent slump, I like him Friday as the Warriors play a lot of small lineups. I wouldn’t be surprised if Portis plays close to, if not more, minutes than Robin Lopez. At the pace the Warriors play, Portis could be in for a big performance considering his reasonable price.

CENTERS

NBA Daily Fantasy Basketball Lineup Picks

Hassan Whiteside, MIA at MIN
FanDuel = $8,800
DraftKings = $8,500

Let’s take a look at the last three performances by centers against the Timberwolves. Andre Drummond had 20 points, 16 rebounds, and two blocks Sunday, Dwight Howard had 25 points, 20 rebounds, and four blocks Monday, and Nikola Vucevic had 11 points, 14 rebounds, and one block Wednesday. While Karl-Anthony Towns is one of the best offensive centers in the game, he clearly still has a lot of improving to do on the defensive end of the floor. Expect Whiteside to demolish the Timberwolves in this game.

Steven Adams, OKC vs. DET
FanDuel = $6,200
DraftKings = $5,200

The Thunder have one of the weakest benches in the league as their starting five is averaging 79.9 points per game while their second unit is only averaging 23.6 points per game. They are especially thin at center, which has forced Adams to average a career-high 31 minutes per contest. With Friday bringing a matchup against Andre Drummond, Adams is going to be needed to log heavy minutes again in this game. If you want to save money at center, look no further.

POINT GUARDS

NBA Daily Fantasy Basketball Lineup Picks
Kemba Walker, CHA vs. CLE
FanDuel = $7,800
DraftKings = $7,400

Walker posted his second double-double of the season Friday against the Boston Celtics and has at least 20 points, five rebounds, seven assists and one steal in both of his last two games. Not only does his 26.7% usage rate lead the Hornets, but it ranks Walker 33rd in the NBA. The Cavaliers have one of the worst defenses in the league and have struggled to guard point guards all season. Look for Walker to put up big numbers in this contest.

Frank Ntilikina, NY vs. UTA
FanDuel = $4,600
DraftKings = $3,900

Ntilikina doesn’t provide much offense as he has only scored at least 10 points in a game once this season. He provides tremendous value defensively though as he is averaging 2.0 steals in only 21 minutes per game. The Knicks have played him more of late as he has logged at least 23 minutes in each of the last five games. He finished with five assists in four of those five games, so he can provide value at this cheap price even if he isn’t providing much offense.

SHOOTING GUARDS

NBA Daily Fantasy Basketball Lineup Picks
Tyreke Evans, MEM vs. IND
FanDuel = $6,800
DraftKings = $6,600

Evans has been one of the best players coming off the bench in the league as he is averaging 18.5 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.1 steals and 2.0 three-pointers per game. He has played even better lately as he is averaging 24.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.5 steals and 2.2 three-pointers over his last six games. The Pacers are allowing the seventh-most points per game (109.1) in the NBA, so Evans is primed for another big performance Wednesday.

Jordan Clarkson, LAL vs. PHI
FanDuel = $4,200
DraftKings = $4,800

Clarkson scored a season-high 25 points in his last game Monday against the Phoenix Suns and has been a sparkplug off the bench for the Lakers by averaging 15.5 points per game on the season overall. While he is playing fewer minutes this year, he has become a much more efficient player as he is shooting 51.2% from the field and 40.0% from behind the arc, both career-highs. The Sixers are allowing the sixth-most points per game (109.5) in the league, so Clarkson could outproduce his price point Wednesday.

SMALL FORWARDS

NBA Daily Fantasy Basketball Lineup Picks
Giannis Antetokounmpo, MIL vs. DET
FanDuel = $12,200
DraftKings = $11,300

Giannis is in the midst of an MVP-type season for the Bucks as he is tied for the fourth-best usage rate (33.6%) in the league. While he’s not a good three-point shooter, that still hasn’t stopped him from averaging 31.3 points per game. Throw in averages of 10.3 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.8 blocks per game and you get someone worthy of his lofty price Wednesday. He’s a slightly better value on FanDuel where he would cost 20.3% of your budget as opposed to a commitment of 22.6% of your budget on DraftKings.

Denzel Valentine, CHI at OKC
FanDuel = $4,900
DraftKings = $4,300

The Bulls will be without Justin Holiday Wednesday after the birth of his child and it is expected that Kris Dunn will take his place in the starting lineup. While Dunn would be replacing him in the starting five, it likely will also lead to more minutes for Valentine. When the Bulls faced the Thunder earlier this season, Valentine scored eight points go to along with nine rebounds, three assists, one steal and two three-pointers in 31 minutes. He was only 3-for-12 from the field in that game, so he could have had a really big night if he wasn’t ice cold from the floor. At this price, Valentine could be a great value play.

POWER FORWARDS

NBA Daily Fantasy Basketball Lineup Picks
LaMarcus Aldridge, SA at MIN
FanDuel = $8,300
DraftKings = $8,200

If there has been one benefit to Kawhi Leonard having yet to play this season due to injury, it’s that Aldridge has been able to re-establish himself as an elite talent. He enters Wednesday averaging 22.5 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.4 blocks per game. This is a promising matchup against the Timberwolves as Aldridge scored 25 points to go along with 10 rebounds, four assists and two blocks against them earlier this season. He is very reasonably priced on both sites based on his production potential.

Bobby Portis, CHI at OKC
FanDuel = $5,300
DraftKings = $6,300

Portis has come off suspension to thrive on a Bulls team with a serious lack of talent as he is averaging 19.3 points, 10.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists in three games this season. Playing time has not been an issue and he played a season-high 30 minutes in his last game Saturday against the Spurs. The Thunder are lacking size up front and will likely be without Steven Adams due to injury as well, meaning plenty of small lineups. Portis could also steal some minutes at the five from Robin Lopez as a result. Get him in your lineup.

CENTERS

NBA Daily Fantasy Basketball Lineup Picks
Hassan Whiteside, MIA vs. WAS
FanDuel = $8,800
DraftKings = $8,000

Whiteside is a nightly threat for a big double-double as he is averaging 15.9 points and 13.0 rebounds per game this season. He continues to be an excellent defender as well, averaging 1.9 blocks per contest. There are a lot of elite DFS options at the center position taking the floor Wednesday, but Whiteside may provide the most value based on his price on both sites. He won’t bust your budget while providing you with a high floor option.

Dewayne Dedmon, ATL vs. SAC
FanDuel = $5,400
DraftKings = $5,100

Dedmon is in the midst of his most productive stretch of the season as he is averaging 14.2 points, 8.4 rebounds and 0.6 blocks over his last five games. Given his first chance to play extended minutes in his career, Dedmon is currently averaging career-highs pretty much across the board. Wednesday brings a great matchup against the Kings as they are one of the worst teams at defending the center position in the league. If you need to save money at center, look no further than Dedmon.

POINT GUARDS

Stephen Curry, GS vs. MIN
FanDuel = $9,500
DraftKings = $9,300

Curry has picked up right where he left off last season as he is averaging 25.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, 6.4 assists, 1.8 steals and 3.8 three-pointers per game. He is still productive even when he doesn’t get a ton of playing time due to a lopsided score as he has scored at least 20 points in all three games where he played less than 30 minutes this season. Wednesday brings a favorable matchup against a Timberwolves team that has allowed the fourth most points (24.0) and third most assists (10.0) per game to opposing point guards.

Frank Ntilikina, NY at ORL
FanDuel = $4,400
DraftKings = $3,800

You often have to take risks to cash in big in tournament play. Ntilikina provides an interesting opportunity Wednesday based on how little he costs on both sites. After missing the start of the season due to injury, Ntilikina is finding his groove and has played at least 25 minutes in three of the last four games. While he doesn’t provide much offense, he dished out at least seven assists in all three of those games where he saw increased playing time.  If you want to take a chance on a very cheap play at point guard, Ntilikina is a viable option.

NBA Daily Fantasy Basketball Lineup Picks

SHOOTING GUARDS

Avery Bradley, DET vs. IND
FanDuel = $6,300
DraftKings = $5,500

Bradley has seen an increase in playing time of late as he has logged at least 33 minutes in each of the last four games. It’s no coincidence that his numbers were stellar as a result as he averaged 19.5 points, 2.0 steals and 2.8 three-pointers over that stretch. His rebounding is down this season, but the 6.1 rebounds per game he averaged last season were highly unsustainable as his previous career high for a season was 3.8. He will still provide enough value Wednesday and I especially like using him on DraftKings based on his price.

Tim Hardaway Jr., NY at ORL
FanDuel = $6,000
DraftKings = $6,100

Hardaway has the green light to shoot on the Knicks as he is averaging career highs in shot attempts (14.2) and three-point attempts (8.2) per game. Outside of Kristaps Porzingis, Hardaway is the best offensive talent they have on the team. Hardaway is averaging 21.0 points, 3.3 three-pointers and 1.8 steals over his last six games, making him a strong play again Wednesday against the Magic.

NBA Daily Fantasy Basketball Lineup Picks

SMALL FORWARDS

Kevin Durant, GS vs. MIN
FanDuel = $10,400
DraftKings = $9,700

I really don’t have to make much of an argument to justify using Durant on any given night. He has been providing his usual stellar stats as he is averaging 24.8 points, 7.7 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 2.5 blocks and 2.9 three-pointers per game. This is a promising match up though against the Timberwolves as they have allowed the second most points per game (109.8) in the Western Conference this season.

Bojan Bogdanovic, IND at DET
FanDuel = $4,700
DraftKings = $4,800

Bogdanovic has seen increased playing time on a rebuilding Pacers team that is lacking depth as he is averaging a career-high 29 minutes per game. Increased playing time has led to increased production as he is averaging 13.4 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.6 three-pointers per game. He has been even better offensively of late, averaging 15.4 points and 2.4 three-pointers over his last five games. If you are looking to save money at small forward, look no further.

NBA Daily Fantasy Basketball Lineup Picks

POWER FORWARDS

Kristaps Porzingis, NY at ORL
FanDuel = $9,800
DraftKings = $9,500

Porzingis has been one of the more entertaining players to watch so far this season. His unique set of size and athleticism have lead to some crazy plays on both ends of the floor. His first season without Carmelo Anthony has gone swimmingly as he is averaging career highs in points (30.0), rebounds (7.5), blocks (2.3) and three-pointers (1.9) per game. Although he will cost you a lot Wednesday, the volume he gets is worth the price.

James Johnson, MIA at PHO
FanDuel = $6,200
DraftKings = $6,400

Johnson may be one of the more underrated players in the NBA, but you shouldn’t look past him for your lineup Wednesday. He has the ability to provide excellent all-around production, evident by his averages of 13.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 1.3 steals, 1.1 blocks and 1.0 three-pointer per game this season. With that type of talent, it provides for a high floor on a nightly basis in terms of DFS production. Expect much of the same from him against a bad Suns defense in this game.

NBA Daily Fantasy Basketball Lineup Picks

CENTERS

Hassan Whiteside, MIA at PHO
FanDuel = $9,000
DraftKings = $7,400

Whiteside threw up a clunker in his last game against the Golden State Warriors and was benched in the second half for a lack of effort. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said this shouldn’t carry over into tonight’s game, so expect Whiteside to return to his normal allotment of minutes. He has scored at least 21 points and grabbed at least 14 rebounds in three of the fives games he has played this season, providing tremendous value. Look for him to respond with a strong performance tonight, making him an especially good play based on his price on DraftKings.

Enes Kanter, NY at ORL
FanDuel = $6,800
DraftKings = $6,200

Kanter has thrived as the starting center for the Knicks as he is averaging a double-double (13.6 points and 10.8 rebounds per game) for the first time in his career. What makes his production even more impressive is the fact that he is only averaging 25 minutes per game. The Magic have depth up front with Nikola Vucevic and Bismack Biyombo, so the Knicks will be counting on Kanter to provide valuable minutes again Wednesday. If you can’t spend the money on Whiteside, Kanter is a solid mid-tier priced option.
