STARTING PITCHERS

MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball Recommendations for 6/19/19

Rich Hill vs. San Francisco Giants
Stadium – Dodger Stadium
FanDuel = $9,600
DraftKings = $10,300

The Dodgers have one of the best starting staffs in baseball while the Giants lineup has been just plain awful, making this series a match made in DFS heaven. Hill continues to pitch well when healthy, although his 4.21 FIP indicates there might be some regression coming for his 2.60 ERA. The good news is that he’s still generating plenty of strikeouts with his 27.6 percent strikeout rate, so there is plenty to like about him here.

Trevor Williams vs. Detroit Tigers
Stadium – PNC Park
FanDuel = $7,700
DraftKings = $7,300

The Pirates are expected to activate Williams off the IL for this juicy matchup. He was pitching well before suffering his injury, allowing three earned runs or fewer in seven of his nine starts. If you’re looking for strikeout upside, Williams is not your guy. However, the Tigers have arguably the worst lineup in baseball and Williams is very cheap on both sites, making him someone who might be worth taking a shot on in tournament play.

CATCHER

MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball Recommendations for 6/19/19

Wilson Ramos vs. Max Fried, Atlanta Braves
Stadium – SunTrust Park
FanDuel = $2,700
DraftKings = $4,400

Fried’s hot start has come to a crashing halt with him allowing 17 runs across 20.1 innings in his last four starts. The Mets do have a lot of lefties who could still have trouble, but their righties are worth targeting. While Ramos’ overall numbers are down this year, he has a lofty 158 wRC+ against left-handed pitching.

FIRST BASE

MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball Recommendations for 6/19/19

Pete Alonso vs. Max Fried, Atlanta Braves
Stadium – SunTrust Park
FanDuel = $4,100
DraftKings = $5,400

Speaking of players who torch lefties, Alonso has been even better than Ramos with a 196 wRC+ against southpaws. His power upside is tremendous with his .350 ISO, providing the Mets with everything that they could have hoped for when they had him break camp with the team. It’s tough to fit him into your budget at this price, but it’s worth trying to make it work.

Others to consider: Josh Bell and Carlos Santana

SECOND BASE

MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball Recommendations for 6/19/19

Ozzie Albies vs. Steven Matz, New York Mets
Stadium – SunTrust Park
FanDuel = $3,600
DraftKings = $5,000

Our run on players who hit lefties well continues on the other side of this game with Albies against Matz. Albies has a career 142 wRC+ against lefties, making him one of the top options at second base. It also helps his cause that he is 15-for-37 (.405) with four home runs and five doubles across his last nine games.

Others to consider: Enrique Hernandez and Adam Frazier

THIRD BASE

MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball Recommendations for 6/19/19

Jose Ramirez vs. Joe Palumbo, Texas Rangers
Stadium – Globe Life Park in Arlington
FanDuel = $3,100
DraftKings = $3,800

It’s hard to argue against the statement that Ramirez has been the most disappointing hitter in baseball this season. A fantasy stalwart the last two years, he enters this game with a 60 wRC+. With his price tag now placing him in the bargain bin, adding him to your lineup can provide significant relief for your budget. Palumbo has mostly pitched at Double-A this season and allowed four runs across four innings in his only other start in the majors.

Others to consider: Justin Turner and David Freese

SHORTSTOP

MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball Recommendations for 6/19/19

Francisco Lindor vs. Joe Palumbo, Texas Rangers
Stadium – Globe Life Park in Arlington
FanDuel = $4,100
DraftKings = $5,500

While Ramirez has been a flop, Lindor continues to provide reliable production as the best hitter on the Indians. He already has 12 home runs across 53 games, giving him a shot at hitting at least 30 homers for the third straight season despite starting the year on the IL. For those looking to stack the Indians against Palumbo, Lindor is a must regardless of his price.

Others to consider: Dansby Swanson and Kevin Newman

OUTFIELD

MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball Recommendations for 6/19/19

Shohei Ohtani vs. Aaron Sanchez, Toronto Blue Jays
Stadium – Rogers Centre
FanDuel = $3,900
DraftKings = $5,200

The Angels should be one of the more popular stacks for the evening. This season has been mostly a struggle for Sanchez, who enters with a 5.17 FIP and a 1.60 WHIP. Ohtani has been firing on all cylinder of late, hitting 19-for-53 (.358) with six home runs and three doubles across his last 14 games. While he’s not cheap on either site, Ohtani’s price tag on FanDuel is a little easier to swallow.

Oscar Mercado vs. Joe Palumbo, Texas Rangers
Stadium – Globe Life Park in Arlington
FanDuel = $3,500
DraftKings = $5,000

The Indians have received a much-needed boost from Mercado since calling him up from the minors. Known more for his speed than his power, he’s contributed in both areas with six steals and a .187 ISO over 28 games. His 46.5 percent hard-hit rate has also helped propel him to bat .308 with a .364 wOBA.

Jordan Luplow vs. Joe Palumbo, Texas Rangers
Stadium – Globe Life Park in Arlington
FanDuel = $3,000
DraftKings = $4,500

Continuing to attack Palumbo brings us to Luplow, who should be in the lineup with a lefty on the mound. The last two games in which the Indians faced a lefty, Luplow batted cleanup both times. With his 187 wRC+ versus southpaws, he’s one of the better less-expensive options to consider at any position.
