STARTING PITCHERS

MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball Recommendations for 8/28/19

Tanner Roark vs. Kansas City Royals
Stadium – Kauffman Stadium
FanDuel = $8,400
DraftKings = $8,400

With so many offenses in positions to thrive, this might be one of those nights in which it makes sense to save money at starting pitcher. There are certainly some viable options, including Roark. In four starts since joining the A’s, he’s allowed eight runs (seven earned) and recorded 23 strikeouts over 24 innings. The Royals have one of the worst lineups in baseball, so there is plenty of upside here at his reasonable price on both sites.

Aaron Civale vs. Detroit Tigers
Stadium – Comerica Park
FanDuel = $8,200
DraftKings = $7,000

Injuries to their starting rotation haven’t stopped the Indians from staying in the playoff hunt. One of the main reasons why they have remained successful is other pitchers stepping up and performing well. Civale has been one of them with his 1.82 ERA and 2.23 FIP. He hasn’t allowed a single home run over his five starts and faces an excellent matchup versus the Tigers. The last time he took the mound against them, he recorded six strikeouts over six scoreless innings.

CATCHER

MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball Recommendations for 8/28/19

Christian Vazquez vs. Peter Lambert, Colorado Rockies
Stadium – Coors Field
FanDuel = $3,100
DraftKings = $4,800

The Red Sox are likely going to be the chalk stack of the night. Not only do they have the benefit of playing at Coors Field, but they also get to face Lambert. He’s been awful in his home park, recording a 6.24 FIP and a 1.52 WHIP. Vazquez launched a home run in the series opener Tuesday and is having the best offensive season of his career with his .206 ISO.

FIRST BASE

MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball Recommendations for 8/28/19

C.J. Cron vs. Ross Detwiler, Chicago White Sox
Stadium – Guaranteed Rate Field
FanDuel = $3,200
DraftKings = $4,400

Another stack that should be pursued heavily is the Twins against Detwiler. It’s hard to find many encouraging stats for Detwiler considering he has a 6.74 FIP and a 1.48 WHIP. Cron has a robust 157 wRC+ against left-handed pitchers and won’t destroy your budget, making him a very appealing option.

Others to consider: Mitch Moreland and Josh VanMeter

SECOND BASE

MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball Recommendations for 8/28/19

Brock Holt vs. Peter Lambert, Colorado Rockies
Stadium – Coors Field
FanDuel = $2,800
DraftKings = $4,400

For some cheaper exposure to a Red Sox stack, look no further than Holt. Lambert has not only struggled at home, but he’s also allowed a .393 wOBA to left-handed hitters, overall. Holt produced three hits and two RBI in the series opener and now has a .371 wOBA for the season.

Others to consider: Jason Kipnis and Nick Solak

THIRD BASE

MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball Recommendations for 8/28/19

Miguel Sano vs. Ross Detwiler, Chicago White Sox
Stadium – Guaranteed Rate Field
FanDuel = $3,900
DraftKings = $5,500

Sano has done a nice job of bouncing back from his miserable 2018 campaign that saw him bat just .199 with a .398 slugging percentage. Known for his power, he hasn’t disappointed this year with his .574 slugging percentage. Add in his 146 wRC+ against southpaws and he’s yet another one of the enticing options on the Twins.

Others to consider: Rafael Devers and David Fletcher

SHORTSTOP

MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball Recommendations for 8/28/19

Mike Freeman vs. Jordan Zimmerman, Detroit Tigers
Stadium – Comerica Park
FanDuel = $2,200
DraftKings = $3,700

Freeman makes this list for the second straight day and is once again available at a dirt-cheap price. While he wasn’t overly productive Tuesday, he did record a hit, an RBI and a run scored. Zimmermann has allowed way too many baserunners, leaving him with a 1.46 WHIP. Adding Freeman to your entry can go a long way towards enabling you to pay up for some of the top-tier bats on the Red Sox and Twins.

Others to consider: Trevor Story and Xander Bogaerts

OUTFIELD

MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball Recommendations for 8/28/19

Nelson Cruz vs. Ross Detwiler, Chicago White Sox
Stadium – Guaranteed Rate Field
FanDuel = $4,200
DraftKings = $5,500

Cruz is someone to build your lineup around Wednesday. He’s showing no signs of slowing down in the latter stages of his career, recording a .345 ISO and a .417 wOBA. A brief stint on the IL hasn’t impacted his production with him hitting 11-for-31 (.355) with a home run and four doubles over seven games since his return. With his 185 wRC+ against left-handed pitchers, Detwiler could be in for a world of trouble.

Jackie Bradley Jr. vs. Peter Lambert, Colorado Rockies
Stadium – Coors Field
FanDuel = $3,000
DraftKings = $4,700

Bradley was one of the many players on the Red Sox who was productive Tuesday, hitting a home run and drawing two walks. Not known for his power, he’s now gone deep five times over his last 10 games. If there was ever a night to get him into your entry, this is it.

Tyler Naquin vs. Jordan Zimmermann, Detroit Tigers
Stadium – Comerica Park
FanDuel = $2,100
DraftKings = $3,500

Continuing our search for a couple of cheap bats brings us to Naquin, who should be in the lineup with a righty on the mound for the Tigers. His power numbers have dropped off lately, but he’s still 12-for-35 (.343) over his last 13 games. With how much Zimmermann has struggled to keep men off base, Naquin might be able to provide some value towards the bottom of the Indians’ lineup.

Others to consider: J.D. Martinez and Ian Desmond
